A $3,750 Card Just Earned the Board's Rarest Green Light
Boa Hancock's regionals promo flipped to ACCUMULATE at an eye-watering price today, while four different cards up 400%+ this week still can't shake their HOLD tags, and a competitive ban is quietly rewriting Dracule Mihawk's chart.
Most collectors think of ACCUMULATE calls as entry points for cheap cards with room to run. Today the board handed one to a card that already costs more than a used car.
Boa Hancock (CS 26-27 Regionals Season 1) flipped from HOLD to ACCUMULATE at US$3,749.72. At that price this isn't a speculative flier, it's the system saying a genuine chase card still has headroom below its prior peak. That's a rare combination, and it's worth noting alongside the quieter shift in the totals: our buy-setup count actually shrank by one name today, even as the accumulate pile grew by 21 cards and the sell-watch pile grew by 36. The board is getting choosier, not looser.
Today's top moves
Mr. 1 (Daz.Bonez) is up 483.8% this week and 471.8% this month, and it's still sitting on HOLD, which tells you a lot about how our overheating check treats near-vertical spikes: the system would rather wait for a base to form than chase a card that's already run this hard.
Trafalgar Law (ST10-001) has ripped 414.7% this week and 388% this month to A$25.33, another case of a huge gainer that hasn't earned an upgrade because the run has been too steep, too fast. Both this and Mr. 1's spike are worth watching for a pullback rather than treating as a new floor.
Dracule Mihawk (OP14-020) is the week's biggest faller, down 50.02% to US$32.94 and still carrying its SELL WATCH tag, which historically has meant more downside is likely over the next month. The timing lines up with real news, not just chart noise: Bandai announced on September 24 that OP14-020 is joining the banned list effective October 12, alongside restrictions on Luffy paired with Katakuri or Big Mom. A card losing its place in competitive decks tends to lose collector demand fast, and the slide from $60.73 to today's print began right around when that announcement hit the wire.
Legacy of the Master Booster Box briefly touched BUY SETUP before sliding back to HOLD at US$285.45, a reminder that these upgraded calls can be fleeting.
Elsewhere, X.Drake, Jozu, and Tashigi all round out a heavy sell-watch list this week, so the caution isn't isolated to one card.
What we're watching
The Mihawk ban is the story to track into October: the restriction takes effect October 12, and our SELL WATCH stamp has historically preceded an average 28-day decline of around 17% across the board, so a card already down 50% on the week isn't guaranteed to have found its floor before the rule even kicks in. On the other side of the board, Boa Hancock's ACCUMULATE call at nearly $3,750 is uncharted territory for our system, since it rarely tags a card this expensive, so we're watching whether that price holds or whether it was a one-day blip. And with the sell-watch pile up 36 cards in a single day against a shrinking buy-setup list, we want to see whether that's the start of a broader cooling or just noise around the Mihawk news.
