Charlotte Katakuri Sheds Its Warning Label and Rips 87% in a Week, and the Board Still Isn't Chasing
A card that was flagged SELL WATCH just two days ago is suddenly the week's biggest percentage mover, and it's not the only HOLD-stamped rocket confusing collectors today.
Two days ago, Charlotte Katakuri carried a SELL WATCH tag at A$6.53. By the very next day the stamp had already flipped to HOLD, before the price even moved. Now today it's sitting at A$8.16, up roughly 87% over the past week. Not ACCUMULATE, not BUY SETUP. Just HOLD. That's the kind of whipsaw that makes new collectors question the whole system, but it's exactly the discipline our backtesting says pays off: the board doesn't chase a card just because it moved, it wants to see room to run below the prior peak before it gets excited, and near-vertical spikes get treated with suspicion even when the price action looks electric.
Katakuri wasn't alone today. The board is surrounded by huge weekly gainers that all landed on the same conservative tag, and the spread between them says a lot about how the system actually thinks about risk.
Today's top moves
Scratchmen Apoo's Online Regional Finalist print is up 63.3% this week and a staggering 98.3% over the past month, now sitting at A$280.89, and it's still parked on HOLD. A promo most collectors had forgotten about, quietly doubling in value, and the board still isn't interested in chasing it.
Crocodile's OP14-120 print jumped 54.3% in seven days and a wild 288% over the past month to A$15.48, proof that a cheap card can post monster numbers and still not earn the board's blessing. This is the same overheating logic at work on a card that costs less than a booster pack.
Trafalgar Law's OP05-027 print climbed 28% this week on top of a 91.9% monthly run, now trading at A$234.54, another HOLD despite the chart. Three different price tiers, three different supply stories, and the same verdict each time.
The lone exception today is Marshall.D.Teach's Online Regional 2023 Finalist print, up 27.6% weekly and 37.3% over the month to A$193.16, and it's the rare card the board is willing to tag ACCUMULATE rather than just watch. Same kind of weekly pop as the others, but with more room left below its prior high, which is precisely the distinction the system is built to make.

Worth remembering here: our own backtesting shows cards that earn an ACCUMULATE tag have historically finished about three times out of four four weeks later with an average gain near 18%, and closer to 32% two months out. Cards stuck on SELL WATCH tell the opposite story, averaging roughly 6% lower over that same four-week stretch. That gap is why the board would rather sit tight on a 288% mover than jump in after the fact, and why one ACCUMULATE tag among five hot cards isn't an oversight, it's the whole point.

The calendar isn't empty even if today's board looks like it's running on momentum alone. Treasure Cup Gatineau lands September 27, and Store Tournament 2026 Vol. 4 opens October 1, both adding fresh prize and participation promos into a market where several of today's biggest gainers are themselves tournament prints. New supply landing on top of already-parabolic charts is exactly the setup that's burned buyers before, so we're watching whether Katakuri and its HOLD-stamped company can hold these gains once that next wave of promos starts trading, or whether today's whipsaw was the easy part.
