Crocodile Doubles in a Week, and the Board Still Says HOLD
Crocodile OP14-120 is up 114.8% in seven days, yet the board keeps it at HOLD. Here is why a big weekly number is not the same as a signal.
If you only glanced at the weekly percentage column today, you would think Crocodile from OP14 just became the hottest card in the game.
Crocodile OP14-120 is up 114.8% over the past week and 132.1% over the past month, now sitting at A$22.32. It is also one of the more liquid names on today's board, with 1,968 sales recorded in the last 30 days, so this is not a single odd sale dragging an average around. The move is real. And yet the board still stamps it HOLD.
That is deliberate. Part of the system's job is to ask whether a card has proven it can hold a new level, not just reach it. A near-vertical run in a few days is the textbook case where the data cannot yet tell a durable repricing from a spike. A card can be the biggest gainer on the whole board and still not clear the bar for a stronger stamp.
Today's top moves
Crocodile was not alone. Several cards climbed steeply and all sit at HOLD.
Sugar, the OP10 alt art, is up 95.5% on the week and 131.6% on the month at A$49.66. It has traded 187 times in 30 days, a healthy but quieter market than Crocodile's.
Lucky.Roux from PRB02 gained 69.1% this week and 147.4% across 30 days, now A$20.12, with 1,444 sales behind it.
Shirahoshi's CS 26-27 Event Pack promo added 63.1% to reach A$88.68. Only 31 sales in 30 days, so one or two buyers can shift this price a lot.
Lilith, the OP13 alt art, rose 50.5% weekly and 81.3% monthly to A$29.20.
The other side of the board
The sharpest weekly drops today tell a different story. Koby from the Treasure Cup is down 61.6% on the week, Trafalgar Law (Offline Regional 2023 Finalist) is down 52.3%, and Jozu (Championship 2023) is down 51.9%. Each of those has only a handful of sales in 30 days, which is a reminder that thin event promos can swing hard in both directions on very little volume.
What ties it together
The common thread among the gainers is the shape of the move: fast, steep and recent. Percentages like these are easy to read as a signal when they are really a description of what already happened. The more useful question the board asks is what happens next, and for now it has no stronger answer for any of these cards than HOLD.
What we're watching
Whether Crocodile and Sugar can keep their new levels over the coming days, or give a chunk of it back. Whether the thinner names, Shirahoshi in particular, find steady buyers rather than a one-week burst. And whether the stamps on these cards change as more sales come in. The data will say when the picture shifts, and we will report it either way.
