Five Big Weekly Gainers Flood the Board, and Only One Gets a Green Light
Luffy's P-080 promo just posted a 152% weekly spike and still can't shake its HOLD stamp, while a much quieter Trafalgar Law print earns the system's confidence instead.
The board is lit up with triple digit weekly gains today, and almost none of them are getting a buy signal. That tells you more about how this market works than the percentages themselves.
The headline mover is Monkey.D.Luffy's P-080 promo, up 152% over the past week to A$100.08. That is the kind of chart that gets collectors reaching for their wallets, but the system stamped it HOLD anyway. Our models are built to spot room to run below a prior peak, and they deliberately sit out near-vertical spikes like this one. History backs the caution: cards that look this overheated tend to cool before they climb further.
Today's top moves
- Monkey.D.Luffy (P-080) rocketed 152% this week to A$100.08, but the spike itself is the reason it stays parked on HOLD.
- Nefeltari Vivi from Judge Pack Vol. 8 climbed 102.9% to A$28.11, another huge weekly number that still reads as HOLD under the overheating check.
- Buckin is up 101.2% on the week and a staggering 670.8% over 30 days to A$18.26, proof that some of these promo singles have been quietly building for a month before today's jump.
- Senor Pink gained 84.7% this week and 72.5% over the month to A$24.95, stacking short and long term momentum without tripping into ACCUMULATE territory.
- Belo Betty added 81.3% this week and 96.1% over 30 days, landing at A$62.03 and rounding out a day where five figures start with an 8.
The far more interesting story might be the one card that broke the pattern.
Trafalgar Law's OP05-027 anniversary print is "only" up 38.8% this week and 50% over the month, sitting at A$180.81, yet it is the one that actually earned an ACCUMULATE stamp. Compared to the runaway spikes above, that is a controlled climb with space left to grow, and our backtesting shows ACCUMULATE-flagged cards are higher four weeks later roughly three times out of four, averaging a 32% gain by the eight-week mark. It is a reminder that the biggest number on the page and the best setup on the page are not always the same card.
Today's board was pure price action: no set releases or tournaments landed to explain the spikes, which is exactly why the system treated most of them with caution rather than conviction.
What we're watching
Two catalysts sit just ahead. The Treasure Cup stops in Hampton, VA and Athens on September 13 will be the first real OP17 meta consolidation events, and winning leaders and staples in that format tend to move on the results. Then September 18 brings the NA Finals in Dallas alongside the EN release of the Set Sail Deck Set SD01, a new entry-level product line that carries some reprint risk for staples included in it. Either event could give today's runaway movers a real reason to keep climbing, or give the market a reason to cool them off. That is context for your own decisions, not a signal to act on.
Stay sharp out there, collectors.
