Kalifa Doubles in a Week and the Board Still Won't Blink
A handful of cards put up spike-of-the-year numbers, but almost none of them earned a buy stamp, and that gap is the real story.
Kalifa's EB01 alt art is up 109.8% this week and 102.6% over the past month, sitting at A$16.43. That is a genuine double, the kind of move that gets screenshotted and shared. And the board still stamps it HOLD.
This is the overheating check doing its job, quietly. The system is built to avoid chasing near-vertical spikes even when they look irresistible, because under A$50 a climb this steep graded out as close to a coin flip in our backtest, with a negative median return. Dip buying has not been a rescue either: in this market, dips during an uptrend have usually kept dipping. So the board sits back and waits for the move to cool into the range it trusts before it flips anything to a buy signal. Worth noting alongside all of this, Kalifa has no direct sales data behind it and the quoted price has not moved in five days, so treat the number as a thin-market read rather than a firm bid.
Kalifa is not the only card caught in that net. Jinbe from OP05ANN is up 58.2% this week and 141.9% over 30 days to A$43.69, still HOLD. Sabo's OP13-004 alt art has cooled to 32.0% on the week while holding a 216.8% monthly gain at A$65.86, also HOLD.
Board-wide, the extremes kept easing overnight. The accumulate count slipped from 484 names to 442, sell watch eased from 774 to 691, and buy setup held steady at five. More holds, fewer flags in either direction, a market catching its breath rather than picking a direction.
Today's top moves
Kalifa (EB01-031, alt art) sits near the top of the board at +109.8% this week to A$16.43, a HOLD despite the eye-popping chart.
Jinbe (OP05-066) climbed 58.2% this week and 141.9% this month to A$43.69, still parked on HOLD.
Sabo (OP13-004, alt art) is up 32.0% weekly and 216.8% monthly to A$65.86, a spike that has slowed but has not earned a buy stamp.
Monkey.D.Luffy (OP11-058) is the quiet one: flat on the week, up 24.2% on the month, at A$25.65. It carried an ACCUMULATE stamp yesterday and has since settled back to HOLD, which is a fair illustration of how quickly these calls move.
Kaido's OP17-062 fell another 71.1% this week and 71.8% on the month to A$11.84, still on SELL WATCH as the OP17 repricing grinds on. That one carries the new-set caution flag, which is exactly what you would expect from a set still two days short of its English street date.
What we're watching
OP17 The World's Strongest Warriors reaches English shelves on 28 August, the first fully simultaneous global launch for the game, with JP singles setting the anchor since 22 August. Box-opening supply lands right after, and that is usually when the prices written during the 21 August pre-release weekends get tested properly. Then Treasure Cup Kissimmee on 29 August gives the first competitive read on which OP17 cards actually matter. Steady hands win more often than fast ones.
