Crocodile's 2023 Finalist Foil Is Still Climbing: Up 63% and Counting
A three-year-old Regional finalist print just posted its best week yet, and the system's ACCUMULATE flag says there's more room before this one's done. Plus: what to watch as the Indianapolis Regional and OP-17 launch approach.
If you've been sleeping on Offline Regional finalist foils, today's a wake-up call. The 2023 Crocodile finalist print jumped another 63.6% this week and sits up 96.6% over the past month, now trading at A$198.89.
That's not a one-week spike, that's a sustained climb, and it's exactly the kind of pattern our system likes when it hands out an ACCUMULATE stamp. Cards flagged ACCUMULATE have historically been higher eight weeks later about three times out of four, with a median gain near 16%. Crocodile's already blown past that median, but the flag hasn't flipped off, which tells you the system still sees room to run.
Today's top moves
Right behind Crocodile, Viola from the OP05 anniversary set is having a moment of her own, up 46.4% this week and 47.4% over the month, now A$53.48, still carrying the ACCUMULATE stamp.
Otama's Best Selection Vol. 6 print popped 43.1% this week to A$16.83, and it's a nice case study: this card was on SELL WATCH not long ago before flipping to HOLD, a reminder that these stamps move with the data, not with hype.
Smoker's alt art out of OP10 climbed 40.8% this week and 44.6% this month to A$36.49, keeping its ACCUMULATE tag, while San-Gorou from the OP05 anniversary print run is right there with it, up 39.2% weekly, 52.1% monthly, at A$53.72.
Worth a special mention: Perona's OP12 alt art is up a huge 36.7% this week and 70.4% this month, sitting at A$97.64, but it's still stamped HOLD. That's the system's overheating check at work. Big, fast spikes get excluded from buy signals even when the chart looks tempting, because near-vertical runs are exactly the setups that tend to cool off hardest.
What's actually driving this
There was a Treasure Cup running in Peoria today, but none of tonight's six movers are current-meta staples, they're older finalist prints, anniversary promos, and alt arts from sets going back to 2023. This looks like collectors quietly rotating capital into scarce, older cardboard rather than reacting to tournament results. Worth remembering the two aren't the same market, and they don't always move together.
What we're watching
The next few weeks are stacked with catalysts. The Indianapolis Regional and Treasure Cup kicks off July 30 as the first offline-era regional of the new season, and a big NA field there tends to send winning leaders and staples moving within days. The following day brings six new starter decks (ST-31 through ST-36, headlined by Luffy, Zoro, Kuzan, Katakuri, Sabo, and Kid), which can shift reprint pressure on staples. None of that touches the finalist and promo prints climbing today directly, but it's the backdrop worth knowing. Further out, OP-17 The World's Strongest Warriors lands August 28 as the first fully global simultaneous EN and JP release, and that's typically when demand rotates hard toward the new set and prior-set sealed product cools off.
For now, the story is Crocodile's foil, and whether three weeks of green turns into four.
