Treasure Cup Weekend Watchlist: The OP16 Meta Is on Sale
Wolverhampton and Sao Paulo host Treasure Cups this Sunday, and they arrive with OP16's tournament staples deep in post-release discount territory. Here is what we are watching before, during, and after the results roll in.
Two Treasure Cups, One Cheap Set
This Sunday, July 19, the Treasure Cup circuit lands in Wolverhampton and Sao Paulo, with Peoria following on July 25. These are the first major OP16-meta results in weeks, and they arrive at an interesting moment: the OP16 singles market is still working through its post-release hangover.
How deep is the discount? As of this morning, every OP16 single above US$5 that carries an actionable stamp on our tracker carries the same one: SELL WATCH. Not one is stamped as a buy. That is not a verdict on the set's playability. It is what post-release supply looks like while it washes through the market.
The Discount Rack
The set's marquee leader tells the story. The base Marshall.D.Teach (OP16-119) sits at US$23.37, down 14.5% this week and 48.4% over the month.
The alt arts have been hit even harder. Kin'emon (OP16-082) is at US$18.16, down 54.3% on the month. Kuzan (OP16-063) is at US$6.72, down 53.1%. Emporio.Ivankov (OP16-026) is at US$9.92, Bon Kurei (OP16-055) at US$12.68, and the textured-rare Vista (OP16-011) at US$25.42, all still sliding.
One early hint of a floor: the premium version of the OP16 Teach, trading at US$48.95, flipped off SELL WATCH and back to HOLD today. That is the first OP16 chase card to stop bleeding by our rules.
Why the Weekend Matters
Tournament results are the classic catalyst that separates a post-release dip from a permanent markdown. When a leader takes a major event, its key cards tend to find buyers fast, and the cards above are cheaper than they have been at any point since release. Watch which leaders convert in Wolverhampton and Sao Paulo, then check how the corresponding singles open next week. If Teach decks put up results, the two versions of OP16-119 are the obvious ones to watch first.
A caution on the flip side: chasing meta heat after it has already gone vertical has been a poor bet in our testing. The EB04 King alt art is up 123% this week to US$33.88 and Dracule Mihawk (OP14-020) is up 70.7% to US$63.07, and both still carry HOLD stamps rather than buys. Our overheating check exists precisely because near-vertical moves on mid-priced cards cooled off more often than they held.
Fresh Buy Stamps Heading Into the Weekend
While OP16 sits in the penalty box, this morning's run flipped a handful of cards from HOLD to ACCUMULATE, several of them meta-adjacent:

- Jewelry Bonney (OP12-118) at US$26.10
- Monkey.D.Garp (OP11-095) at US$9.51
- S-Snake (OP13-114) at US$5.86
- Nami (OP15-086) at US$3.36
On the sealed side, the OP15 Adventure on Kami's Island booster box holds its ACCUMULATE stamp at US$250.90.
For context on what the stamps have meant historically: across two and a half years of backtesting, cards earning a buy stamp finished higher eight weeks later between 65% and 84% of the time, depending on which of our rule families fired. Base rates, not guarantees.
