A 349% Week for One Card, and the Board Still Calls It a Hold
Ulti is up nearly 350% in a week, yet the Ledger keeps it at HOLD while Crocodile's steadier climb earns ACCUMULATE. Here is why the shape of a move matters more than its size.
If you only looked at one number today, it would be this: Ulti from Event Pack Vol. 6 is up 349.2% over the past week and 273.8% over the past month, now sitting at A$15.20.
That is the kind of chart that gets screenshotted and passed around group chats. And yet the Ledger still has it stamped HOLD, not a buy signal. This is our overheating check doing its job. When a card goes this vertical this fast, we treat the move with suspicion rather than conviction. A card can be the biggest riser on the whole board and still not get a green stamp, and that is by design.
Size versus shape
Compare Ulti to Crocodile's Online Regional 2023 Finalist print, which climbed a calmer 40.8% this week and 123.2% over the month to A$319.17. That card carries an ACCUMULATE stamp. The difference is not the size of the move, it is the shape of it. Crocodile still has room below its prior peak, while a card like Ulti has already run hard enough to trip the caution wire.
It is worth remembering what a stamp is and is not. HOLD does not say a card is bad, and it does not say the price will fall. It says the data does not currently show a favourable entry, and that a move this sharp has often been followed by a pullback in our history. ACCUMULATE says the opposite: the trend is intact and the price has not stretched past its own recent range.
Today's other big movers
Buggy from Event Pack Vol. 8 is up 52.5% this week to A$14.83, another large mover still sitting at HOLD.
Sugar's OP10-003 alt art from Royal Blood jumped 48.2% this week and 163.3% over 30 days to A$56.34, also parked at HOLD for now. Two big climbs in the same family of cards, and the same patient answer from the system.
Vinsmoke Reiju's SP print from Anime 25th Collection climbed 35.0% to A$1,110.77 and earned an ACCUMULATE stamp, a rare case of a sharp mover that the system is comfortable with.
The other side of the board
Not everything is rising. Tournament prize cards took a beating: the Store Championship Trophy Luffy fell 45.5% this week to A$1,006.86, and Koby from the Treasure Cup fell 40.4% to A$195.38. Both are stamped SELL WATCH. Across our backtest, SELL WATCH names have given up a further 10.7% on average over the following month, so a red arrow is not automatically a bounce waiting to happen.
What we're watching
Whether Ulti and Buggy hold their new levels over the coming week, or give back some of the run, since that will tell us a lot about how much of the move was real demand. Whether Crocodile keeps its ACCUMULATE stamp as it extends. And whether the tournament prize cards find a floor, or keep sliding. As always, this is what the data shows, not a recommendation to buy or sell.
