OP17's Chase List Is Confirmed: Loki Leads a Manga-Heavy Lineup

The World's Strongest Warriors doesn't drop for another week and a half, but we already know what collectors will be chasing when packs open. SNKRDUNK and Shonentcg both confirmed the same lineup on August 7: [[card:ffdd36d5-6753-4832-8ff1-9da6775f1f9b]] as the set's Secret Rare, plus four Manga-style treatments spread across the set's biggest names, Edward Newgate (OP17-005), Shanks (OP17-022), Kaido (OP17-062), and [[card:d674f7fb-1f94-4edf-92e4-71d58e28d6a2]].

That's a notably concentrated chase list. Rather than spreading pull equity across a dozen alt arts, Bandai leaned into five cards this cycle, one Secret Rare and four Manga treatments on Emperor-tier leaders. For a set built around Whitebeard's crew, Kaido, and the Big Mom Pirates, that's a deliberate bet that collectors will pay up for the characters already carrying the set's marketing.

We don't have secondary prices to report on any of the five yet, and we won't pretend otherwise. OP17 hasn't opened a single pack. What we can tell you is what the sealed market is already doing ahead of street date. As of yesterday, a Booster Box was sitting at AU$547 and down 9.4% on the week, while the Double Pack Set Vol. 12 was up 32.6% on the week and 54.7% over the past month, trading around AU$99. That's a real divergence between the two most common ways to open this set, worth watching as pre-release approaches.

The timing here matters more than usual. Pre-release starts August 21 in the US, and Japan gets its street date on August 22, the same weekend as One Piece Day 2026's flagship livestream. Bandai is running its first genuinely simultaneous global launch, with English wide release following just six days later on August 28. That compressed window means the usual pattern, where JP tournament results and secondary prices give US buyers weeks of runway before EN singles catch up, mostly disappears this cycle. Whatever pricing signal comes out of Japan on the 22nd will have very little time to breathe before EN packs are on shelves.

For collectors specifically hunting the chase list, that argues for having a plan before pre-release weekend rather than reacting to it. Know which of the five you're after, know roughly what a comparable Manga or Secret Rare treatment has traded for in past sets, and treat any early JP listings as a rough guide rather than a floor. Prices on a card that hasn't been pulled yet are, by definition, speculation.
