Pre-Release Day: OP-17 Has 76 Singles on Our Board and Only 22 Have a Price
English pre-release events start today. We carry 76 OP-17 singles and 54 of them have never had a price. The 22 that do are backed by an average of fewer than eight sales a month.
English pre-release events for OP-17 The World''s Strongest Warriors start today. Japan gets its street date tomorrow, and the English wide release follows on 28 August. That makes this a good morning to write down something easy to forget in the noise of a launch week: on the day a set opens, its price board is mostly empty.
Here is our own count, taken from this morning''s data. We carry 81 OP-17 products. Seventy-six of them are singles. Exactly 22 of those singles have a price on the board. The other 54 have never carried one.
The prices that exist are thinner than they look
The top of the OP-17 singles board looks respectable until you check what sits behind each number.
The Shanks leader alt art is USD 299.99, about A$422 at yesterday''s rate of 1.4072. Behind that number: two sales in 30 days, and a price that has not moved in 15 days. It is stamped HOLD and sits in our lowest liquidity tier.
The Rocks.D.Xebec leader alt art is USD 289.00 (A$406.69) on two sales. The Luffy OP17-079 alt art is USD 289.50 (A$407.39) on one. Kaido''s SR alt art is USD 149.99 (A$211.07), also on one.
Move down the board and the picture improves slightly, but not much.
Loki, the set''s most discussed secret rare, is USD 79.99 (A$112.56) on nine sales in 30 days. The Rocks.D.Xebec secret rare matches it at USD 79.99 on eight. Across all 22 priced OP-17 singles the average is under eight sales in 30 days, and every one of them is stamped HOLD.
None of that is a criticism of the sellers or the set. It is simply what a pre-release price is: an ask, set by whoever listed first, tested by a handful of buyers. It is not yet a market.
Sealed is the part with a real market
The contrast is sharp. All five of OP-17''s sealed products are priced, and the volume behind them is genuine.
The booster box is USD 331.74 (A$466.81) with 2,058 sales in 30 days, and it is stamped SELL WATCH after slipping 12.4 percent over seven days. The 12 box case is USD 4,459.37 (about A$6,275). Double Pack Set Vol. 12 Display is USD 442.13 (A$622.18) and carries the set''s only ACCUMULATE stamp, up 2.4 percent on the week.
So the honest summary of OP-17 this morning is that the sealed market has been trading for weeks while the singles market has barely started.
The card list is still moving
The other thing worth knowing during pre-release week is that a spoiler list being called complete does not mean the product catalogue has stopped growing. Our OP-17 records now include the Treasure Rare Edward.Newgate OP17-040 and a second OP17-005 entry, both added recently and neither carrying any price history yet.
There is also a gap visible in our own data. OP-17 is reported to be the first set to put alternate art DON!! cards into packs, four of them, but our board currently tracks zero OP-17 DON!! products. Those entries have not reached us yet, which is a reminder that a tracker is only ever as complete as the feed behind it.
What we''re watching
Three things this week. First, whether those top asks hold once pre-release copies start hitting listings, or whether one and two sale prices get rewritten the way new set asks usually are. Second, the booster box, which went into its own launch week on a SELL WATCH stamp. Third, the catalogue itself, including the four alternate art DON!!s and anything else that appears after the list was declared finished.
We will not have a real read on OP-17 singles until there is volume behind the prices. Today there is not.
