Eight days out from the Aug 21 pre-release of The World's Strongest Warriors (OP17), the sealed market for the set is already active, though not in the tidy, one-direction way the "sealed climbs into launch" story usually gets told.

It opened our tracking window at $44.99 USD (about $63.71 AUD) in mid-July and has stepped up almost every week since: $52.48 by late July, $61.72 by Aug 8, and $69.61 as of Aug 12 (about $98.57 AUD at today's exchange rate). That is a 54.7% climb over 30 days, and the ledger currently has it stamped ACCUMULATE. It is a smaller, cheaper product, which may be exactly why demand can move in one direction here: less inventory in circulation, fewer sellers racing each other to the bottom this close to release.

Momentum over the past 7 days is actually negative, down 9.4%, and the stamp has cooled back to HOLD.
So the "sealed always runs up before a launch" idea holds for one product here and does not for the other, at least so far this cycle. If anything, what we are seeing looks more like: smaller, cheaper configurations trend cleaner, while the flagship booster box gets whipsawed by short-term speculation and profit-taking as opening day gets closer.
There is real reason for that speculation to keep building. OP17 is Bandai's first fully global simultaneous launch, with the JP release landing Aug 22, right alongside One Piece Day 2026 (Aug 22 to 23), which usually brings its own wave of announcements and a Premium Card Collection lottery for the P-161 Luffy promo. The EN wide release follows on Aug 28. That is a tight, three-event stretch: pre-release on Aug 21, JP launch and One Piece Day on Aug 22 and 23, EN street date on Aug 28, all inside eight days of each other.
None of this tells us where prices land once packs are actually open and the set's four confirmed Manga-style alt arts and the Loki secret rare start getting pulled in real numbers. Sealed pricing ahead of a release is mostly a bet on demand, not a preview of pull rates.
What we're watching: whether the Booster Box's current dip holds through the pre-release weekend or gets erased again once JP tournament results and One Piece Day news start landing, and whether Double Pack Set Vol. 12's steadier climb keeps going once the wider EN release puts more supply into the market on Aug 28.
